Abstract

In the statistics of the Russian Federation there is no in- formation about the results of treatment of patients with TB/HIV. This study partially replenishes this gap. The study includes 5,820 patients with new cases of tuberculosis and1075 with relapses registered for treatment in 9 Russian regions in the electronic register of tuberculosis patients in 2015, including 669 new cases and 153 TB/HIV relaps- es. Outcomes of treatment were stratified by gender and age. In the case of treatment for MDR- or XDR-regimens, new cases of TB/HIV need more often than new TB cases without HIV (20.0 and 13.7%). The most frequent transfer to treatment for MDR- or XDR-regimens of new cases of TB/HIV occurs in the group up to 24 years and 55-64 years (more than 33%). TB/HIV relapses were also more often treated for MDR- or XDR-based treatment than HIV-free TB (42.5% at 29.8%). Treatment success rate for new TB/HIV cases is 1.5 times lower than for new TB cases without HIV (52.7% and 77.3%; p<0,001). The frequency of successful treatment for TB/HIV relapses is 1.6 times less than for HIV-free TB (39.8% and 63.0%; p<0,001). In the gender and most age groups, this ratio is maintained. With an increase in age, both in cases of TB/HIV and in TB without HIV, there is a decrease in the percentage of outcomes «lost to follow up» and «transferred» and the proportion of deaths from tuberculosis is increasing. The lethality not from tuberculosis in new cases of TB/HIV was26.6%, in TB/HIV relapses - 29.5%. The age-related maxi- mum of lethality not from tuberculosis in TB/HIV patients was at the age of 45-54 years.
