Abstract

2015–2017 mortality from respiratory diseases decreased by 24.6% for to measures taken in St. Petersburg Despite the older population in St. Petersburg than in the Russian Federation as a whole, in 2017 the mortality rate from respiratory diseases of the population in St. Petersburg was 19.4% less. The dynamics of the general and newly detected incidence of respiratory diseases in St. Petersburg is growing, mainly due to acute respiratory infections of the upper respiratory tract. The high incidence of respiratory diseases among the adult population of St. Petersburg is due to the presence of universally recognized factors contributing to the development of this pathology in the city: pollution of the environment, air, and climatic and geographical features of the city. The continued trend towards a decrease in the incidence of community-acquired pneumonia over the past three years (including 2018) indicates the effective implementation of the planned measures for primary and secondary prevention of pathology.
